Taxonomy and conservation of plants, with special focus in Southeast Asia, particularly, Vietnam and Laos, and study of plants used in indigenous therapy, as well as continuing explorations of the tropical rainforest for new drug leads as part of collaborative research between the Ohio State University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
