Yuzo Nishizaki now Associate Professor at Toyo University
PHCI Trainee Nishizaki Moved from NIHS to Academia
Former PHCI trainee, Yuzo Nishizaki, Ph.D., moved from his Researcher position at Japan's National Institute of Health Sciences, NIHS, in the Division of Food Additives to academia: starting in April 2024, Nishizaki is an Associate Professor at Toyo University in Tokyo, Japan.
Dr. Nishizaki is an expert in the analysis of food additives and has a strong background in pharmacognosy. At NIHS, he has been working closely with one of the Japanese pioneers of quantitative NMR (qNMR) methodology, Naoki Sugimoto, Ph.D., on the development of modern analytical methodology for the analysis of adulterated foods and food additives, many of of which are natural products.
During his one-year stay at PHCI, Dr. Nishizaki studied calibration methodology for qNMR as well as quantum mechanics based spectral analysis. Lately, he has been involved in the implementation of NMR-based assays into monographs of the Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP) as well as in the development of an ISO standard for qNMR.
