PHCI Ethnobotanist Dr. Doel Soejarto Earns 2022 ASP Tyler Prize

On the occasion of its annual meting in Charlotte (SC), the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) confers the 2022 iteration of its prestigious Varro E. Tyler Award on Dr. Doel Soejarto, an internationally acclaimed ethnobotanist, field-botanist, and pharmacognosists behind numerous plant-based discoveries of bioactive natural products. An affiliate professor of the PHCI, Dr. Soejarto is a long-term faculty member at the UIC College of Pharmacy, in particular serving the Program for Collaborative Research in the Pharmaceutical Science (PCRPS), a legacy component of PHCI. Dr. Soejarto has contributed an enormous, highly diverse collection of plants, including many medicinal species from South-East Asia, to our greater natural products discovery endeavor.
